Group Partners NHIS to Provide Affordable Healthcare to Bauchi Communities

A group, Andiwa Community Health Association, in collaboration with National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has sensitised communities in nine local government areas of Bauchi State on how to access affordable healthcare.

Under the partnership, beneficiaries who registered with only N3000 will access free medical services at the designated health centres including diagnosis, consultation, operations and all other treatments under National Health Insurance Scheme.

Speaking during a stakeholders‘ sensitisation meeting held in Azare town, the Chairman of ANDIWA Community Health Association, Dr Waziri Dogo Mohammed, told the participants that the programme was aimed at providing efficient and effective healthcare service at affordable rate to all the inhabitants.

In his remark, NHIS Senior Manager, Alhaji Sani Garba Abba, charged the people to unite and establish cooperatives with a view to accessing affordable healthcare delivery services in both rural and urban areas.

“Head of family, who registers with only N3000, and two members of his family, would have access to free medical services amounting to N100, 000 and above every year. Beneficiaries will only pay 10 percent of the total sum of drugs.”

The Emir of Katugum, Alhaji Umar Farouk, who was represented by Professor Dauda Bagari Shamaki, said that the Katagum Emirate Council have enrolled thousands of its people into the NHIS.

The monarch commended the partnership and called on the people to key-in to the scheme for the benefit of their wellbeing and development of the society.
